NO TOMMY LEE FOR CANADA
A release from Tommy Lee’s management says the deejay will not perform in Canada as is being advertised because the promoter is a conman.
According to Junior ‘Heavy D’ Fraser, We have no intention to do that Canada show on December 15th. The promoter is a con man. He deposited a fraud cheque to pay for two dates, another one in Trinidad for November 17th as well. The bank pulled back the funds and notified us of the situation. The cheque was drawn on a Canadian based company which we have permanently blocked from doing business with as well as their affiliates.”
The released further stated, “Fast rising entertainer, TommyLee Sparta is being advertised for an upcoming Canada event where he will not appear. The December 15th event has publicized the Psycho performer in concert. Recently, multiple sham promotions have announced that the artiste is billed to appear at venues, in New York, Miami and across Jamaica. To calm angry patrons, the fraudsters blame the artiste for not turning up. This has resulted in angry fans turning to social media to vent their frustration affecting the artistes credibility. The turn out to his authentic events are also affected as many believe they are hoaxes.
DJ David Rodigan resigns from Kiss FM over ‘marginalisation’ of reggae music
One of Britain’s best-known specialist radio presenters, David Rodigan, has ended his 22-year relationship with the commercial station Kiss FM by resigning over the “marginalisation” of reggae music in the schedule.
Rodigan is known for his encyclopaedic knowledge of Jamaican music and was given an MBE in the last New Year’s honours list. He is a multiple winner of Sony radio awards but was moved to a midnight slot on the Bauer Media-owned station, in order to accommodate a show hosted by the singer Craig David.
The presenter, who recently won a Sony for a separate show that he makes for BBC Radio 2, has been synonymous with Kiss FM since it ended its pirate radio status and became a legal station in 1990. He has broadcast on the network ever since but has in recent years been pushed to the late night schedule, despite receiving growing levels of recognition from the radio industry.
