JUNIOR REID ROAD MANAGER DIES FROM A HEART ATTACK

Amidst preparations for his upcoming album and North American tour, tragedy has struck leaving Reggae stalwart Junior Reid stricken by the sudden death of his close friend and international road manager Mikey Jarrett Jr.

According to the medical and police report Jarrett died from a heart attack on Tuesday while in Miami, Florida on a professional assignment.

Hailing from the boroughs of New York City, Mikey Jarrett Jr. has been an integral part of the One Blood family for over fifteen years and was very instrumental in the professional advancement of the careers of Junior Reid, Wada and Andrew Blood. He also helped to foster relations between the Bloods and a number of international superstars some of whom were under his tutelage.

A bereaving Junior Reid in a release to the media laments, “Mikey’s death is a great loss to creation, humanity and the music industry. He has done so much for this music and for us as entertainers. Mikey was a man that always wanted to bring out the best in people, it’s really sad to see him go… may Jah guide him on his journey.”

Similar sentiments were echoed by a seemingly shock Wada Blood who tweeted, “Mikey Jarrett can’t believe it star mi feel da one yah Rastafari kno real family mi vibes mash up.”

Junior Reid and the One Blood Family will depart the island in the coming days to meet with his family and attend the funeral.

DANCEHALL ARTISTE AJRENALIN ENLIST US DIRECTOR FOR VIDEOS AND ROCKS PEPSI CHILL SPOT

Back on local soil following a debilitating two week stint in St. Croix, St. Thomas and North America. Dancehall artiste Ajrenalin has enlisted the services of U.S based entertainment group Monsta Mind Entertainment (MME) to shoot a pair of videos over the Memorial weekend.

The tracks, ‘Nowhere’ produced by Kwankussion Records and ‘Pour It Up Remix’ continues to gain momentum across the Diaspora and forms part of a cadre of songs being promoted by the artiste heading into summer.

Scouting several locations across the U.S southern coast, Miami and Fort Lauderdale were chosen for their cosmopolitan scenery. According to the emerging star, “We wanted to present a fresh perspective with the videos, give fans something to look forward to… hence we decided to go overseas.”

Now on the chopping blocks, the pair of visuals are expected to premiered later this month. The group is also responsible for Adrenalins’ ‘Ransom Freestyle’  video released late last year.

While in Jamaica, the ‘One Room’  singer also performed at the recently concluded Pepsi Chill-spot concert in Margaritaville, Ocho Rios as one of the specially invited guest for headliner Christopher Martin.

DEMARCO MAKES HEADLINES IN AFRICA AND SET TO LAUNCH NEW SCHOOL INITIATIVE

Following closely on his historical feat of becoming the first Dancehall/Reggae act to grace the cover of an Arabian magazine, Jamaican superstar Demarco is once again in the international spotlight.

The multi-talented entertainer is featured in a two page spread of ‘PULSE’; one of Africa’s most popular and respected tabloids. While in Dubai, the Kenyan based publication sat down with Demarco to quiz him on a plethora of subject matters including his upcoming album and concomitant rise to international stardom. The thirty minutes interview culminated with what fans can expect upon his return to the motherland.  To which a very jocund Demarco responded, “an eclectic performance unlike none other the continent has seen!

According to the tabloid, Kenyans are in high spirits with bountiful adulations for the singer who arrived in Nairobi on Monday, June 3rdahead of his inaugural performance at the Carnivore Grounds this weekend. The ‘Continue Whine’ crooner will also be making three additional stops in Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Guinea later this month.

Upon his return to Jamaica, Demarco is expected to launch a new educational initiative that targets students of all ages, predominantly in the inner-city communities. The campaign seeks to render well needed assistance to qualified candidates to offset academic expenses and guide them in attaining their life-long goals and aspirations.
