QUEENS, NY: Award winning reggae singer Half Pint, who exploded on the international scene with reggae hits like ‘Winsome,’ ‘Mr. Landlord,’ ‘Level the Vibes,’ ‘Substitute Lover’ and ‘Victory,’

has been added as a last minute replacement for singer Coco Tea on the third annual Groovin In The Park concert, which unfolds at Roy WIlkins Park in Queens, New York on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

Groovin Inc. CEO Chris Roberts said Coco Tea was replaced because of an issue with his work permit which may or may not be resolved before the concert takes place on Sunday.

“My understanding is that Coco Tea has a valid US visa. We were however informed around the end of May that he needs a waiver on his work permit because of an incident that occurred in the Caribbean in 1998. We were very optimistic that the situation would have been resolved in time for Coco Tea to perform for his many fans in the USA at Groovin In The Park on Sunday, June 30. We hired the services of a top notch law firm to expedited the process. However with just a few days before the concert, despite the best efforts of the immigration lawyer, the required waiver has not yet been granted. Because of this unfortunate situation, the Groovin executive team decided that the wise an prudent thing to do was to inform patrons early and to seek a credible replacement for Coco Tea. It is against this background that Half Pint has been added to the lineup. He is an excellent performer and is an the artiste that fans will truly enjoy” Roberts noted.

Since he busted on the scene, Half Pint has delivered an impressive cache of albums including’No Stress Express,’ ‘Greetings,’ ‘Victory,’ ‘Legal We Legal’ and ‘One Big Family.’ His 1983 hit song’Winsome’ was covered by the Rolling Stone while’Giving/Sharing’ was featured on the soundtrack for the movie, The Mighty Quinn (1989).

His colossal fan base is universal and they remain consistently loyal, especially here in the USA as well as in Europe, Japan, Brazil, and the Caribbean. He has recently toured with San Diego based rock/reggae band, Slightly Stoopid, as well asPepper and Sly and Robbie on the sold-out Tailgate 2008 tour throughout the US and Canada. In 2009 he toured with rapper Snoop Dogg andStephen Marley. He is recognized globally for his positive contribution to the upliftment of mankind through reggae music. In 2000, he was presented with “The Key to The City of Lauderdale Lakes” by the Mayor of the Florida suburb.

Half Pint will join a world-class lineup of hit machines including R&B icon Patti LaBelle, Tank, Ginuwine, Tyrese, Sanchez, Barrington Levy, Steel Pulse andQueen Ifrica on Groovin In The Park.

This summer event is more than a concert and has become a synergistic celebration of Caribbean and African American cultures in New York City.

Appleton Estate 50-Year Old, Believed to be the World’s Oldest Barrel-Aged Rum,
Chosen over Hundreds of other Luxury Spirits Brands

KINGSTON, JAMAICA (June 20, 2013) – Appleton® Estate Jamaica Rum is proud to announce that its Appleton Estate 50-Year-Old Jamaica Rum – Jamaica Independence Reserve, which is believed to be the World’s oldest rum available for sale in the world, was selected as the top spirit by Robb Report Magazine in its annual prestigious “Best of the Best” Issue.

Robb Report’s 25th annual “Best of the Best” list is a culmination of a year’s search for the most extraordinary new products and services. The “Best of the Best” coverage—featuring comprehensive reviews by Robb Report’s editorial staff and a team of seasoned contributing writers—spans 26 product- and service-related categories within six departments: Wheels, Style, Journeys, Leisure, Home, and Wings & Water.

Only 800 bottles of the Limited Edition Appleton Estate 50 Year Old Jamaica Rum – Jamaica Independence Reserve were produced, making this exclusive rum even more coveted.  The select rums that make up this minimum age 50 year old rum were specially set aside to age more than half a century ago with the intention of creating a one-of-a-kind rum that would be bottled to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence in 2012. For over fifty years these rums were looked after – first by Master Blender Owen Tulloch and then current Master Blender, Joy Spence, the first female Master Blender in not just the rum category, but the worldwide spirits industry.

“Robb Report Magazine is the authority on experiencing the finest things in life, so it’s an honor that their editorial team selected Appleton Estate as their favorite spirit,” said Spence. “With so many luxury spirits on the market, this distinction is a powerful statement on how truly special and rare the Appleton Estate 50 Year Old Jamaica Rum – Jamaica Independence Reserve is, symbolizing not only Appleton Estate’s commitment to crafting the finest rums in the world, but also the heritage and pride of the Jamaican people as they celebrated their independence.”

This highly anticipated offering broke new ground for the rum category when it was released last year, as the Appleton Estate 50-Year-Old Jamaica Rum – Jamaica Independence Reserve is believed to be the first rum to be aged a minimum of 50 years.  As the 50th Anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence approached, Master Blender, Joy Spence carefully examined each barrel to ensure that the barrels had aged to perfection and had attained the level of complexity and richness that would be fitting to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence. The barrels were taken from the warehouse to the blending hall where they were brought together in a special vat and left to “marry,” for several months to allow the rum’s character, flavor and bouquet to meld together in harmony. The result is balanced, refined and nothing short of magnificent.
